Why is Sonic Unleashed such a Bad Game?

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

If critics think Unleashed was that bad, then they're just flat out saying both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 are bad games too, and maybe more worse. So yeah, the werehog levels aren't so exciting, but that's only on the early stages. I mean, you do know that every stage you beat, you can add EXP to your combat, strength, life, or any others that you can improve. That's when it gets less annoying and playable.

Once I beat the game, I still played through some of the "hedgehog" stages just cause I like it, and for the hell of it. I just find it so fast, thrilling, and even gives me goosebumps, especially on Act 2 of Apotos. But this is where the curiosity begins. As I was playing through the "hedgehog" levels, I start wondering why this is worse than both of the Sonic Adventure games. So, I whipped out both my Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 games for the Gamecube and played through only the Sonic stages. Now let's start with the 1st one. WTF? I actually thought this was fun? This is basically a disgrace to the whole Sonic Series. It is so freakin' slow, and it's too platformy. The 2nd Adventure was a little better but the platforms in this game just doubled especially in the stages at the end of the game.

The truth is, I actually felt a connection with Unleashed and the old 2d Sonic games. The hedgehog stages always kept me off my seat, and the werehog was NOT BAD! Really, it was not that bad. Hopefully Sega will release a Sonic game with Only hedgehog stages. I know this is going to happen, but as for now, I'm just waiting, and hey maybe, similar to Megaman 9, Sega will release another 2d Sonic game, and maybe even call it "Sonic the Hedgehog 4". That would be weird and sweet at the same time.

Update: The music in Unleashed is kick ass!
